Basic Info About The Movie

Jurasssic World is the 4th film in the Jurassic Park series, originally slated for release in ~2006. but released in 2015 due to development hell. While many people say it's better than the first two sequels to the first movie, which were not received as well as the first movie, there is a lot of talk about how this movie lives up to the first movie, since needless to say, this is the very first Jurassic Park movie to be released in today's movie industry, which relies mostly on CGI, but even so, the special effects can be a lot more advanced now, and that's what I was pretty much looking forward to the most as more and more trailers for this movie released. Another thing that was also interesting was not just the build-up of the Indominus Rex, raptors being tamed to an extent, but I heard that the biggest thing that caught people's eyes next to how raptors are portrayed in the film is the fact that Chris Pratt plays the main character, and he's already known for his roles in Guardians of The Galaxy, and Parks and Recreation. At least in the terms of live action entertainment.

So, right then, onto my personal opinion on the movie. Honestly, while I don't think the movie surpasses the first film, I'd say it's more or less on par with the first film. Not only were the special effects really great even though the dinos were CGI and not with animatronics, but I think a lot of the actors portrayed their roles very well, especially how some characters undergo some pretty character developement. I do think the movie has its flaws, but I'll get to that later. For example, the 2 characters with the most notable character developement are Claire, and Zach. Claire at first is just someone who only seems to pretty much care about the park and its attractions, and basically seeing the dinos as just entities at first, but thanks to what Owen shows her throughout the film, she pretty much grows more care for not just her nephews, but realizes how important the treatment of the dinosaurs are. Though, I digress, since when I say it like that, it may sound a little cliche. Same goes for Zach since he's at first that older younger brother that's only going because he has to, but when things start to get very dangerous, he pretty much does everything he can to get him and his brother safe.

Anyway, I liked how Owen keeps a hard headed approach on everything, especially when the raptors are turned against him by the Indominus Rex, and how he's able to make use of his longtime experience with them to get them back on his side. He doesn't panic, he just tries to do what he can until he can find a way to try and resolve it. For instance, he pretty much saved his colleague Barry from getting killed by Blue, one of his raptors, and that alone is a little intresting, since this makes it the first JP film where the black guy ally doesn't die.

So about the Indominus Rex, I honestly thought that everything about it was excuted pretty well, since after we learn more and more about how it was raised, which Owen thought was a very bad idea, we get to see how this would have a very bad effect once she got loose, since she actually manages to claw out a tracking device embedded inside her, and then her sneak attack on the ACU troopers just make her capabilities and ruthlessness quite terrifying since it's a far more intelligent version of the T-Rex. Speaking of the T-Rex, I may as well talk about my personal favorite part of the movie-- the climax.

So before I talk about the above scene pictured, there's what followed beforehand; Owen and the others are cornered by the raptors, but Owen manages to use his bond with them to get them to be back on his side, but then his remaining raptors get killed except for Blue by the Indominus, and then Claire heads straight for the T-Rex paddock while Owen and the others have to hold out against the Indominous, and then when she finally gets back, the T-Rex is able to fight for a bit at first, but it's not until she fights alongside blue where they finally do the Indominous in with the Mosasaurus doing the killing blow. I think all of that was executed pretty well because when the T-rex is seemingly overpowered, they actually create enough suspense to make us think she died. The T-Rex even smashed through the Spinosaurus skeleton.

Flaws

Obviously, there were a few things that left me feeling a bit weird about the movie. Obviously, there's how Claire somehow managed to outrun the T-Rex in heels, which would probably hurt like mad or make you get exhausted quickly, and then there was the death of one of the raptors during the final Indominus fight. Echo gets smacked aside, but straight into a GAS GRILL of all things, and I couldn't help but hold in a bit of laughter since it was almost cartoonish. Other than that, I thought the film was really cool.

Conclusion

Overall, all these are why I think the movie was on par with the first film. Therefore, I give this movie an 8.9/10. Thank you for reading.
